The Audio District · Film, television & voice
ADR recording.
Here in Toronto.
A North York studio for dialogue replacement and pickup sessions. Tell us where your talent will be, what needs recording and how your production needs to connect.
For post-production teams
The performance.
The production details.
ADR brings a performer back to record dialogue for an existing scene. A useful session starts with a clear brief: the lines, picture, direction and deliverables everyone will be working toward.
Replacement lines & pickups
Discuss replacement dialogue, script changes and additional lines with the studio. Include the cue count and any reference audio needed to match an earlier performance.
Toronto-based talent
Coordinate recording around a performer’s time in Toronto. Share availability, expected session length and the people who need to attend or direct.
Plan remote direction
Directors can join through Zoom using our Starlink internet connection. Tell us if your team needs synchronized picture or a specialized audio connection so requirements can be checked before booking.
Define your delivery
Provide recording format, naming conventions, take requirements and delivery deadline. Discuss transfer and confidentiality requirements with the studio before sending production material.
Make the first inquiry useful
Send the brief.
Keep the files for later.
Your first message can describe the project without attaching unreleased scripts or picture. We can discuss how production materials should be shared once the session requirements are understood.
Include in your inquiry
- Production contact and project type
- Preferred dates, time zone and talent availability
- Approximate cue count and expected session length
- Director location and remote connection requirements
- Picture, timecode and reference-audio requirements
- File specifications, delivery deadline and confidentiality requirements
Session planning
Questions from production teams.
Can you accommodate a short pickup session?
Send the cue count and the performer’s available dates. We will discuss room availability, session scope and booking terms with you.
Can a director join from another city?
Yes. Directors can join a Zoom meeting through the studio’s Starlink internet connection. For any specialized audio or picture synchronization workflow, discuss compatibility and testing before booking.
Can new lines match an earlier recording?
Provide a reference and any available notes about the earlier microphone and room setup. Discuss matching requirements before the session; the original recording conditions affect what can be achieved.
What technical specifications do you record and deliver?
Share the format your post-production team requires. Recording settings, file organization and delivery method will be confirmed for the project rather than assumed from a generic specification.
